PC Game Review: Tokyo Hosto (2013)

Tokyo Hosto is a comedic visual novel where you get to play as a young attractive male named Jayson Traysh. Jason didn't do well in school, he is very lazy, not very skilled at most things, and his parents are pressuring him into getting a job. The only thing that Jayson is any good at is hitting on girls, so he decides to get a job at a host bar to where his skills will come in handy. Jayson ends up working at a host club where his boss, "Homo" Toby Lau (Homo doesn't mean what you think it does in this case), decides to put Jayson through some very tough trails to try to turn him into his number one host and make good ol' "Homo" Lau some money. All Superheroes Must Die

  Four superheroes have been kidnapped, stripped of their powers, and deposited into a deserted town rigged with explosives. Can the heroes save themselves and stop the mastermind behind this plot?
   A microbudget film from writer/director Jason Trost (who also plays the lead hero Charge) All Superheroes Must Die is a superhero movie mixed with Saw.
  Like I said before, this is a very low budget film (according to Wikipedia it had a budget of twenty thousand dollars) so don't expect much when it comes to things like costumes, sets, or special effects. The costumes look a little Halloweeny at times, but much like the film itself, get the job done in a bare bones sort of way.
  I enjoyed Trost's performance as Charge, James Remar's hammy performance as Rickshaw, and Sean Whalen as the henchman Manpower but acting wise these are the only notable performances, as the rest are mediocre (Lucas Till as Cutthroat) to bad (Sophie Merkley as Shadow.)
  Now to the special effects, there are none. The plot conveniently strips the heroes of their powers, so we never get to see anything other then some basic action movie stuff i.e. guns, exposions and, at one point, a flame thrower.
  The working title for this film was Vs, which I would take any day over the cheesey title All Superheroes Must Die, but I guess whoever released this thought All Superheroes Must Die would be more memorable.
  While I did enjoy this movie, I can say I'll always wonder what the film would look like if the production had had more money to work with. I think the idea of putting superheroes up against Jigsaw (or in this case, Rickshaw) is an interesting idea, one that deserves a better movie then this turned out to be.
  This is one of those movies I was following well before its release, I favorited the trailer on YouTube and watched it a bunch of times. In many ways, I enjoyed the trailer more then the final film, though I still think you'll enjoy your time with this if you're an open minded superhero fan who doesn't mind a tiny budget. Recommended. Barely.

Blu-Ray Review: Holy Knight (2012)

Holy Knight is an animated mini-series about two young adult named Lilith and Shinta.  This show starts off with Lilith as a little girl living in a small village until suddenly it is being attacked by what seems to be vampire hunters from the Vatican.  This sadly forces Lilith's parents to send her away via boat in order to protect her from danger.  Cut to years later to when we are introduced to a guy named Shinta, a very normal guy with nothing interesting to say about him.  While on his way to class, he runs into a more grown up looking Lilith and comes to shock when he sees that she is hitting on him.  Later that day Shinta runs into Lilith whom wants to drag him into a room so that she can do the monster mash with him (the sexual kind of monster mash).  Shinta freaks out and explains to her that she can't force a sexual relationship onto him and then he walks off.  We soon find out later that Lilith is the last of her kind, this is the reason why she wants to reproduce with Shinta...  Or so it seems as there could be a much more sinister reason why Lilith wants to make sweet, sweet snoo snoo to him.  Did I forget to mention that Shinta's big breasted best friend is jealous of him and Lilith hanging out all the time?  Did I also forget to mention that Shinta's cat can transform into a cute girl that is sworn to protect him from Lilith?  Maybe I should also mention that Lilith also has a talking animal that's trying to help her seal the deal with Shinta and is also trying to have his way with Shinta's big breasted best friend?  Not to mention that the hunters from Lilith's past are in town and are after Lilith.  All this sounds like a fun sexy action series...  Right?  (Click "Read More" to read the full review).

PC Game Review: Mobile Light Force (1994, 2003, 2015)

Mobile Light Force is a vertical shoot 'em up (AKA shmup) and is also an Americanized port of the Japanese arcade game, Gunbird (1994). This game is about a group of heroes that must stop an evil gang from obtaining all the pieces of a magical mirror that will grant the evil gang any wish they desire.  Our heroes will put a stop to the the gang by collecting all of the pieces before they do. Our gang of heroes includes: Marion, a blond haired witch that flies on a broomstick.  Jason Last, a very flashy looking guy that uses a jetpack to get around. MILF 2000, a giant robot that has a very interesting name.  John Suarez, a muscular old man that flies an aircraft that's powered by bike pedals. Lastly, we have a mystical cloud riding woman named Yuan-Nang. Can this rag tag group save the world? (Click on "Read More" to read the full review).

PC Game Review: Disillusions Manga Horror (2013)

"Disillusions Manga Horror" is a horror adventure PC game that has you playing as a guy with white hair and a striped top, he is named Dis.  Dis got a message from his friend saying to meet him in a house where a supposed serial killer used to live.  Dis' friend also wants so to go exploring to see if they can find anything good.  Dis takes a trip to the house and notices how spooky it is and thus it is your goal to look around the house to find your friend.  Later in the game you are introduced to a female police officer named Sui who looks a little bit like a stripper cop (not saying that's a bad thing).  Sui is on duty and is looking around a spooky site that just happened to be a place where a guy went crazy, killed a bunch of people, and blew up stuff.  Sui also happens to notice that she is not alone and thus she has to search around to find the mysterious person before the mysterious person finds her.  Could both Dis and Sui's stories be linked?  (Click "Read More" to read the full review).
